Masks move independently of their layers and work on shape and text layers too.
  

• Paths – Use the full range of line and shape drawing tools to create editable outlines via the Paths Tab or [stroke' paths using any brush to create bordered shapes. Convert paths to or from selections on any layer and save them with your document for later editing.
  

• Blend Ranges – Masking effects can be achieved by selectively including or excluding the ranges of luminance (grey), red, green or blue present in upper and underlying layers.
  

• Histogram – The live' Histogram dynamically responds to show the values for the currently active selection within your document.
